Meet The COOUG Board

 

The COOUG Board of Directors normally meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the Classroom area at The Hartford Insurance Company.

We have several open positions.  Please send a note to Carl Miller if you'd like to find out about opportunities to work with COOUG.

Carl joined the COOUG board as president in 2000.
He is an independent software consultant.

Thomas joined the COOUG board as treasurer in 2000.  He helped COOUG incorporate and achieve the important non-profit status
He is application development manager for the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch..

Matthew Marshall

Matthew joined the COOUG board as Marketing VP in 2002.
He is a Business Application Systems Developer at Northeast Utilities, Berlin, CT.

Chairperson .NET SIG
Allan da Costa Pinto
Allan was on the board of the Microsoft COM/ActiveX SIG in 1997 and has transitioned it into the very active Microsoft .NET Developer SIG.
He is a Systems Engineer with Microsoft.
Chairperson JAVA SIG
Ryan Cuprak

Ryan has been the chairman of the very active Java Users Group from 2002 till present, aligning it with Sun Microsystems java.net program.
He is a Software Engineer at TurboWorx in Shelton.
(COOUG can use another Director to help in meetings). Chairperson RUP SIG
William Marut

Bill was executive VP from 1999 till 2000. He founded and currently serves as chairman of the Rational Unified Process Special Interest Group.
He is a Requirements Engineering Specialist at Hartford Technology Services Company.

Susan Burk

A director since 1999, Susan has been a speaker at several COOUG meetings and SIGS. She heads the program committee and has been creative in establishing "topic themes". Her industry reputation and contacts have brought in many well known speakers.
At MassMutual Financial Group she is responsible for promoting analysis and design best practices.

Denise is a founder of COOUG and served as president in 1999 and 2000, and as executive vice-president and program committee chairman. She currently serves as a member of the program committee.
She is a Software Engineer at Computer Science Corporation in East Hartford and is a long time OMG representative.
Ron CalabresePast President
Ron Calabrese

Ron served as president in 1997 and 1998, and as vice president and as secretary in following years.  He wrote the initial COOUG bylaws and helped incorporate and achieve non-profit status.
He is a 2nd VP of Claim Systems at Travelers Property Casualty in Hartford.

Ed Mirek
Ed is a founder of COOUG and served as its first president through 1996, and then as secretary and program committee member till 1999.
He manages a data architecture department at MassMutual Financial Services.

Art Alexander
Art served as executive vice president and SIG chairman from 1999 through 2002.  He formed the Visual Basic SIG, spoke at several SIG meetings, acted as liaison between COOUG and other groups, and established our independent web presence.
He is a Software Architect at Cigna.

Tom Fulton
Tom served as Treasurer and SIG Chairman until 1999. Tom was a co-chair of the C++ SIG and taught a series of C++  tutorials.  Tom also presented a special "Java for C++ Programmers" tutorial event.
He is a trainer and consultant at Mentor Communications.
Past Web Site Editor
Terry McAuliffe
Terry is a founder of COOUG.  He originated COOUG's database, paper newsletters and this web site. He was the reporter and web site editor until 2005.
As a member of the program committee he was responsible for obtaining some of our most provocative speakers.
Terry is a software analyst at Webster Financial Services.
