Topic: DROOLS – Open Source Declarative Business Rules Engine

ABOUT THE SESSION:

Optaros and JBoss will provide a glimpse into the JBoss Rules product (based upon the Drools project). JBoss Rules is a forward chaining inference expert system implementation based on Charles Forgy's Rete algorithm. JBoss Rules has many new features and is an integral part of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS). This meeting with provide an overview of the technology, architecture and algorithms, performance and usability issues, practical applications and product evolution. A brief demonstration will be provided and related technologies overviewed.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Eric Shea, Technical Lead at Optaros brings experience in both professional services and product companies. Prior to Optaros, Mr. Shea was a Senior Technologist at Workscape, a Human Resources product and services company. Mr. Shea was the lead architect and developer for several initiatives at Workscape and was responsible for introducing numerous open source technologies. Prior to Workscape, Mr. Shea was a web developer at Eprise Corporation in the professional services organization. He was directly involved in developing applications and integrating the Eprise content management solution. Mr. Shea has been a lead for several large clients including Biogen, Dow Jones, American Express Travel, and Hewlett-Packard.
