ABOUT THE SESSIONS:

Complex Event Processing and Rules (Paul Vincent):
Business Rules are conditional business directives: they may be business policies that constraint the business, or production rules that determine business behavior in well-defined processes. In the latter case, business rule processing fits into business process management and service oriented architectures. However, the information flow in an organization is driven by business events, and processing these events can also be done by a more event-driven architecture. This session looks at some of the concepts of event processing and complex events, why they relate closely to business rules, and where they are used in industries like financial services, logistics and transport.

RuleGuide(tm) Preview (Lee Lambert)-
This presentation will preview RuleGuide, the new source business rule management facility being released this fall to the commercial market at the BR Forum Conference in Orlando, FL.

Presentation highlights-

. A source rules maintenance application designed for the Business Rules Analyst . Business focused rules authoring, analysis, and management . Offers a magnitude of quality and efficiency over using generic software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases . Software specifically designed for business rules management . The power of a relational DB rules repository . Rule analysis, consolidation, sustainability, and traceability

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Paul Vincent- Paul has been in the business rules and rule-programming business since the mid-80s and works in TIBCO's Business Optimization products group. Business Optimization includes Complex Event Processing (CEP), which is a relatively new IT paradigm solved by techniques including the use of event-driven rules: thence TIBCO is one of the leading vendors of rule engines! Paul also represents TIBCO on both the OMG PRR and W3C RIF rule standards. Paul previously presented at the COOUG BR SIG on June 23, 2005.

Lee Lambert- Lee offers over twenty five years of IT experience in Property Casualty insurance, Healthcare insurance, Manufacturing and Defense industries. His experiences include program and account management, IT management, IT consulting, Business Rules consulting, insourcing, new business and IT implementations, and developing strategic client/consultant blended teams and alliances.

Lee founded Lambert Technical Services (aka Lambert Consultants) in December 1997. His objectives include meeting the ever growing need for experienced and knowledgeable consultants demanded by today's marketplace and provide tangible results and successful projects.

Since 2000 Lee has focused on working with clients to broaden their business intelligence, to design software products and related services, and to achieve client business objectives utilizing a Business Rules Approach.
The experience of Lambert Business Rules Consultants led to the development of RuleGuide(tm) under affiliate company New Wisdom Software, LLC.
RuleGuide(tm) fills a significant gap in the commercial Business Rules market offering a Source Business Rules authoring, analysis, and management facility. This innovative product will release this fall.
