The Connecticut Java Users Group (CTJUG) will be hosting its first conference on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Connecticut has long been overlooked by Java conferences so your local Java User Group is doing something about it. For the first time you won't have to travel out-of-state!
This free conference will feature presentations by local presenters on SOA Security, EJB3, Spring 2.5/3.0, Maven, Virtual Box, Seam, and possibly others. This is an excellent opportunity to network with other developers and meet some of the local companies leveraging java. You can also ask those pesky Java questions that had been hindering you at work. The Java technologies being presented cover a broad set of development challenges. Whether you are developing enterprise systems, embedded systems, or a website you will definitely learn something new.
These are not marketing presentations. The presenters are from around Connecticut and the northeast and are taking part of a day to share some of their expertise. Notable presenters include Reza Raman, author of EJB3 in Action as well as James McGovern who has authored Enterprise Service Oriented Architectures: Concepts, Challenges, Recommendations as well as other books on webservices and Java. Both Reza and James have presented at the JUG in the past.
Tek System, a long time JUG supporter, will be offering career assistance. Luckily the market turmoil hasn't hit Connecticut as hard as New York (yet).
